Molecules and Atoms

Students relive history as they are introduced to the Periodic Table. Then they examine phase changes and see a metal that melts in hot water. The mystery of the pennies is solved using mass, volume, and a knowledge of the density of copper and zinc. Students grow many kinds of crystals and use paper models to explore their geometry before seeing heat energy moving before their eyes.
